The Year Ahead

December 29th, 2008

My sister in law Louise, phoned tonight.  She has been watching and waiting for me to hit the key board and post the beginning of my new blog.  Louise I hope you will enjoy reading this and hopefully your kind motivation will give me the encouragement to keep adding fresh ideas thoughts and general comments.

As we reach the end of the year it’s traditional to review what’s been happening and to look forward to the coming year. 2008 on the wider view has proven to be turbulent, to say the least. I am wondering how 2009 will pan out - every time I listen to the news on Radio 4 ( BBC ) I want to build a little den with a enough chocolate to see me through 2009!!   And then come out once the world has been fixed.

I must say for me 2008 was a good year with steady progress and interesting new developments. I exhibited at the licensing trade fair ” Surtex” in NY.  I was delighted to meet up with old friends and acquaintances and to make several new contacts.  We live in a small quiet rural village therefore staying in Manhattan always comes as an exciting contrast.  We stay at the same hotel each year and love the fact they have a pillow menu!!  We always sleep well in that noisy city!!

So what about 2009?  I usually like to take stock and make minor adjustments to the way I live my life.  I have learnt the hard way big sweeping changes are hard to maintain. A few years ago I started a journal, not a diary - that can prove too constrictive.  I have kept this going and love the freedom of writing when the mood takes me.  This year my journal will include the idea taken from the uplifting blog Three Beautiful Things ~ threebeautifulthings.blogspot  Each time I write my journal I will include at least three beautiful things or moments that have inspired me.

Introduction to my blog

December 2nd, 2008

Welcome to the blog section of my site! Over the next few months I hope to be writing my blog.

This will be an interesting experience as I usually write a handwritten journal most evenings so this may become an extension.

Come back soon to read my online thoughts…
